Hello everyone! My name is Katie, and I want to start off my blog by telling you a little bit about myself and how ZENutrition came to be. Just one year ago my life was in a very different place. I was stuck in a job that I didn’t enjoy and was often working overtime which didn’t leave me with much time to work out or eat right. I ended up losing my job and that was the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Though difficult at first, I quickly came to embrace and appreciate all of the free time I now had.
I began cooking more and changing my diet. I was already vegetarian, but I decided to go vegan and stop eating any processed food. After doing this, my mood improved, I had more energy and my body changed. I felt so great that I wanted to share this with other people as well. The average American diet is making people overweight and sick and I want to do some small part to help change that. I am fascinated with the human body and how it has the ability to adapt and heal itself. All we have to do is provide our body with the right nutrition and we can end our dependence on prescription and over the counter drugs.
My personal belief is that eating should be somewhat of a spiritual experience, if they are the right foods of course. Everything in life is energy, right down to the foods we put into our bodies. When food is prepared at home by a loved one, doesn’t it seem to nourish you more than something you eat in a restaurant? My goal is to prepare food that truly nourishes the body and will help people feel better and lead healthier lives.
In the past I have often felt that I was coasting through life and couldn’t decide what I wanted to do. I am now starting to see how every decision that I’ve made has had a purpose and lead me to what I believe is my calling. I want to do some small part to create a deeper understanding in people on the importance of nutrition and to help people lead healthier lives. I look forward to blogging more and sharing with you all the things I learn on my journey.
